Job Summary

Health in Tech (HIT) is seeking an experienced Senior Director of Health-Care Reinsurance Operations reporting to HIT's Chief Operating officer. The position is responsible for leading a team of claims specialists, underwriters and data analysts. This position also closely coordinates with the product management team and technology teams.

Key Responsibilities Include

• Lead and develop a team of professionals with expertise in underwriting, claims auditing, data analysis and claims systems.

• Review and apply reinsurance contracts via systems integrations

• Evaluate submitted claims for determination of coverage

• Develop quotes for reinsurance coverage

• Calculate and process loss/expense reserves and billings

• Monitor existing claims and manage day-to-day claim operations

• Participate in the ongoing development of claim handling policies and procedures, including the review and implementation of processes, systems, and strengthening of internal controls.

• Communicate with brokers and employers provide support and resolve claim issues

• Respond to inquiries from internal and external parties.

• Approve reinsurance claim payments based on contract terms within authority

• Conduct claim audits on new and existing business, prepare audit reports and make account renewal recommendations.

• Monitor current developments in reinsurance and insurance claim handling and related laws.

Qualifications

• 5+ of reinsurance claims handling and auditing experience and 5+ years of team leadership experience

• Undergraduate degree in business or related area not required but likely for a successful candidate

• Demonstrated advanced user of MS Excel and databases and claims/underwriting platforms

• Industry designations is a plus (e.g., CPLHI, CPCU) a plus

• Degree in or certification in health-care technology or medical information systems a plus
